Workshop Descriptions & Registration
Benefits of Digital Information Law Live Workshops
Digital Information Law’s workshops are different than other copyright workshops you may have encountered. We go to great lengths to boost your take-away from our workshops and ensure that you maximize your learning opportunities!
Experienced Instructor…
All DIL workshops are taught by licensed attorney Gretchen McCord, who brings a unique and valuable background to her teaching. Not only is Gretchen an experienced attorney, having practiced copyright law since 2001, but she also has an insider’s perspective on the joys and challenges of today’s librarians and educators. Prior to attending law school, Gretchen had a successful career as an academic librarian and continues to work with librarians and educators who rely on her expertise and skills as they address a range of legal issues. Read more in Gretchen’s biography.
…Who Speaks Your Language
Gretchen has a gift for explaining complex and sometimes confusing concepts in a way that makes them suddenly make sense. As a past workshop participant puts it, “She has the ability to take a subject as amorphous as copyright and turn it into a fascinating workshop full of examples and down-to-earth explanations.”
“Her credentials are only part of her story. Knowing how to convey information is her specialty.”
Focus on Your Needs
The law may be the law, but each participant in DIL workshops comes with a unique background and unique needs. We do our best to ensure that your own unique needs are met by encouraging participant interaction throughout. We do this in a few ways:
- We encourage you to send your questions or concerns in advance, as well as between sessions in multi-part workshops.
- Gretchen strongly encourages participants to take part in their own learning during each workshop session by sharing their experiences, understanding, and thoughts, as well as their questions.
- Each workshop is timed to provide opportunity for open Q&A and discussion.
Additional Participant-Only Support
For most workshops, participants are granted access to a restricted page on the DIL website that provides, among other things, links to additional resources on the workshop topic, an archived recording of the workshop, and an opportunity to continue to ask questions after conclusion of that workshop.
Registration, Pricing and Payment
Pricing is on a per-person basis and varies by workshop.
Unless other special pricing is offered, groups of 4 or more from the same institution registering for the same workshop receive a 15% discount off individual registration fees when registering in the same order. Enter the coupon code provided in the Product Description for the workshop when you checkout.
You will receive access instructions after completing registration.
Workshops may be cancelled up to 24 hours prior to starting time if fewer than 10 students have registered. In such a case, registrants will receive complete refunds.
Recordings
You will have access to recordings of live sessions for one year after each workshop is held, which you can use as often as you like! And, if you are unable to attend one or more sessions live, you can simply review the recordings instead. (Access is limited only to those individuals registered for the workshop.)
Continuing Education Credits
All courses are pre-approved for Continuing Professional Education credit with the Texas Education Agency. Please contact us if you wish to receive credit for these courses from some other entity.
